About Author Sandra D. Simmer
Sandra D. Simmer has been a fan of science fiction since childhood. Sandra grew up in the era of moon landings and film classics, such as Star Trek and Star Wars. Her imagination was engaged by the idea of life beyond our solar system. Sandra enjoyed discussing Kurt Vonnegut novels and television series like the X-Files with her children. While she was interested in creative pursuits, raising a family, and pursuing a career in nonprofit program management took up most of her time.
After retiring to the San Francisco Bay Area, Sandra began to write about her colorful life, both real and imagined. To gain new skills she joined several writing groups in her area. Sandra utilized the Pandemic lockdown to take on-line writing courses and joined literary groups on Zoom to gather critical input. Sandra thanks her writer friends, her critique group, and her children for encouraging her story telling talent. In addition to science fiction, Sandra has short stories and memoirs published on Amazon in the Northern California Publishers and Authors (NCPA) anthologies 2020-2022. She contributed a ghost story to the Kaidankai podcast and has poems published in Wingless Dreamer poetry anthologies. She has won local writing awards for her memoirs, short stories, and poems. The Reclamation: Earth Under Siege, a science fiction venture into the “outer limits”, is her first novel published independently on Amazon in January 2023.
