Sandra D. Simmer has been a fan of science fiction since childhood. Sandra grew up in the era of moon landings and film classics, such as Star Trek and Star Wars. Her imagination was engaged by the idea of life beyond our solar system. Sandra enjoyed discussing Kurt Vonnegut novels and television series like the X-Files with her children. She always had an interest in writing, but parenting and career obligations  limited her time for creative pursuits.

After retiring to the San Francisco Bay Area, Sandra began to write about her colorful life, both real and imagined. To gain new skills she joined several writing groups in her area. Sandra utilized the Pandemic lockdown to take on-line writing courses and joined literary groups on Zoom to gather critical input. Sandra thanks her writer friends, her critique group, and her children for encouraging her story telling talent.

Sandra has won local writing awards for her memoirs, short stories, and poems. Her work has been published in the Northern California Publishers and Authors (NCPA) anthologies 2020-2025, and in four Wingless Dreamer poetry anthologies. You can Google her name to listen to her Kaidankai podcast ghost story read by Charles Kowalski and to view her You-Tube interview  with BAM Millan about her four micro fiction stories in the 42 Stories Anthology published on Amazon.

Sandra returned to her love of science fiction to write her first novel,
The Reclamation: Earth Under Siege published on Amazon in 2023, followed by a science fiction short-story The Story of the Century in 2024. She is currently writing a sequel to her novel.
